Who does not like getting something useful for free? But the keyword there is “useful.” You can get all the free software programs in the world but if you cannot use them or they do not protect your computer, then you have wasted your time and possibly put your computer at risk. AVG Anti-Virus Free is definitely a free program you can install on your computer but you really are getting nothing-for-nothing with this software program. This should make you think twice about what you readily install that is marketed as free.
Often you think that free software means you get nothing at all worth having but with AVG Anti-Virus Free you do get something. You get their Anti-Spyware program. Plus you also get the Anti-Virus and LinkScanner. The LinkScanner is nice because it scans the webpages you visit or intend to visit so that you are safe. That is quite a bonus and it is all for free which your wallet with think is fantastic!
If your needs are simple and you just need to protect one computer then the free antivirus software from AVG is worth checking into. But if you have multiple computers and you really want antivirus software protection that you know is going to protect your computer and not require constant renewing or downloading…you may want to go with another antivirus software program. AVG does have other antivirus programs you can check into but they are a bit expensive.
The AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 is $799.00 but it does not block spam, does not come with a built in firewall and it does not offer identity protection. If you want all of that you are going to have to pay a bit more for the AVG Internet Security 9.0 which comes in at a whopping $1,299.00 but it does offer every type of protection you can imagine. And you can protect more than one computer which is pretty nice. The price is not so nice though.
Are there free antivirus programs that offer great protection? Yes but the protection is limited so you have to question just how great the protection and coverage actually is. AVG Anti-virus Free is a great example of a free program that does offer great coverage and protection. With it you are not paying for anything and you are covered pretty well.
